Ruff FLEX Technology
The walls, top and floor on Ruff Land™ Kennels also have built-in flexibility which absorbs energy that would otherwise be transferred to your dog. This is where the “stiff”, two-walled plastic kennels, which claim to be safer, fail. They may not break, but when your dog hits the side of the kennel, there is no give like there is with a Ruff Land™.
StackRight™ Design
The tops and bottoms of Ruff Land™ kennels all feature form-fit nesting that allows the kennels to fit together, making them stackable.
SureVent™ Tapered Wall Design
The sidewalls on all Ruff Land™ kennels feature a series of vent holes. These vent holes ensure proper air circulation for your dog. Ruff Land™ took this one step further by tapering the side walls so that the vent holes will never get plugged, even if you slide the kennel up against a wall or some other flat sided object.
UpSide™ Raised Floor Interior
The interior floor in a Ruff Land™ kennel is raised so that debris and liquids that fall or spill off to the side are channeled away from your dog. This UpSide™ raised floor design also creates some flex for a built-in cushioning effect for your dog as it rides in your truck.
2-Way Door
They are ambidextrous and can be adjusted to swing either way.
No Bite Grid Pattern Design
Grid pattern stops dogs from chewing/biting kennel door
Rattle-Less
They will not rattle as much (if you’ve owned other kennels you know just how annoying this can be).
SlantBack™ SUV-Friendly Design
Select Ruff Land™ kennels feature a SlantBack™ design, an angled back end that fits perfectly up against the canted second seat on most SUVs.

How are the kennels secured?
Terri M. – June 22, 2022
What is the difference between the Gen I and Gen II kennels? I’m considering the large, double door.
Thank you!
Bill – June 16, 2022
Are you going to make more orange kennels
Kathy Owens – June 14, 2022
I purchased the Large Kennel with one door from a vendor. I received it and was disappointed with the ventilation. 2 small holes in the rear. I am now purchasing 2 large kennels with 2 doors front and back. The notes indicate I must add 1.5 inches to the dimensions. I am concerned that they may not fit in my Honda Pilot. The one front door fit perfectly. My main concern is wide – 22 inches wide at widest point. Since doors are not on the side (front and back) will the width change?
brandusa bularca – June 11, 2022
How do I secure the crate in a hatchback car and where? I have a 21 month old GSP who whines in the car out of excitement to get to his favorite places distracting me from driving and I can’t take it anymore. I also have a child car seat in the back. I have a Subaru Impreza 2019. I read that the crate must be secured but how? Are there places to run straps or how does it get secured? Thanks.
Abby – June 7, 2022
I’m looking for a crate my husky will 100% not escape from when we leave. Is this the right cage for me? We’ve tried numerous cages, but I guess we have a Houdini dog, because he busts out of every cage we’ve tried. Is this cage 100% escape proof?
Jaiden Stein – June 21, 2022
No I would suggest you go with an Impact Crates High Anxiety kennel 100% chew proof and your dog will not escape guaranteed. This crate is a an amazing one but I wouldn’t say it’s great for escapees.

Martha Goodrich – May 27, 2022
Do you make the large ruffland with front back and side door?
Tigar – May 14, 2022
When are you bringing back the purple and pink kennel color options? It would be great if they were a permanent color option aqua color too. I’ve been waiting to buy the purple and I know of at least 100 other people that want purple/pink/aqua to be a permanent color option
M Liby (verified owner) – June 1, 2022
I also want a purple crate!
customercare – May 16, 2022
Tigar,
As of right now, we do not know what limited-edition colors we will be releasing this year. Once we have finalized plans for another color release, it will be posted on our website and/or Facebook page. We will probably never bring those on as a permanent color, as we have our 3 standard colors.
Bill – April 27, 2022
This colorful crate gets a 5 star from me. Just waiting on the orange pad to come back in stock.
Kelly Robbiano (verified owner) – April 22, 2022
These crates, I got 2, are a very nice quality and very quiet. I put 2 large crates side by side in my 2022 Yukon. Love it!
customercare – April 22, 2022
Kelly,
We are happy to hear you love your kennels!
Eva – April 21, 2022
Is a puppy divider included, or is it an accessory we can purchase seperately?
customercare – April 21, 2022
Eva,
We currently do not have a divider accessory for our kennels.
Christi McG – April 15, 2022
How does the new XL compare to the old XL design? I have one old one, and looking at the new one to be in the same car. Thank you!

Christi,
Our Gen 2 kennels have recessed Handle and Tie Down Inserts! They also come with Handles.
Joll Williamson – April 11, 2022
I have an 80 lb GSD and looking for this crate for travel and trials. I’m not quite sure which size large or extra large would be the best fit and be safer her. Are you able to help? I am also looking for the purple color do you carry those in stock or do you know where I can get a purple Ruff Land Thank you for your time and help I live in Orlando Florida
Hannah – May 5, 2022
Our female was 80lbs and she used intermediate for a long time, currently looking to upgrade her to lg because she’s more cramped then we like for over night stays places. Oir 100lb male is very comfortable in the xl
Trenton Herrera – April 12, 2022
XL for sure
Gilbert Ramirez – April 12, 2022
Extra large should be fine. We transport dogs and use ruffland kennels. We move a lot gsds and large and xl crates is where they are placed
Cassandra – April 11, 2022
What is the purpose of removing the vent holes along the bottom? Why would someone want (or not want?) this feature?
Less hair and dirt to escape the kennel

Emma – April 6, 2022
Do you all still sell the black diamond color option?
customercare – April 6, 2022
Emma,
Our Diamond kennels were limited edition colors, we are no longer taking orders for those.
Barbara Bishop – April 1, 2022
What size for a Standard Bull Terrier? Around 70 pounds.
Jacob – April 7, 2022
How do we select the no holes on the bottom side I’m not seeing an option for it?
customercare – April 11, 2022
Jacob,
The No Bottom Vent button option is below the door configuration option!
customercare – April 4, 2022
Barbara,
We do not recommend kennel sizes to our customers, as we cannot safely do so. Every dog is different, regardless of breed and without seeing them in person we wouldn’t be able to give you an accurate or safe answer. We recommend that you talk with your veterinarian, breeder, or trainer to get a more accurate measurement. Another option is to measure your dog and go off the dimensions for our kennels on our website.
Pat – March 30, 2022
Whats your current lead time on the large size?
Ruff Land Kennels – March 31, 2022
Hey Pat, our backorder is currently about 4-8 weeks out from the order date. It could ship in 4 weeks or sooner but I can’t guarantee it won’t take upwards of 8 weeks.
Jacki S – March 29, 2022
Just want to be clear. The $10 option to remove botton vent holes means there will be no openings in the bottom of the crate, correct?
customercare – March 30, 2022
Jacki,
That is correct, so the bottom half of the kennel will be a solid wall.
Tammy R – March 26, 2022
BTW, I’m interested in the Large with front and back double doors.
Large Kennel question: the description says that for double doors add 1 1/2 inches – is that added to all dimensions?
JASMINA FERIZOVIC – June 5, 2022
Is it possible to add a back door to an existing 1-door kennel? Is it possible to add extra vent holes to an existing kennel, and if so, how?
Ruff Land Kennels – March 28, 2022
Hey Tammy, the 1.5 inches is added onto the place where the additional door is located. A front and back door would have the length extended by 1.5 inches because of the door frame being added onto the back. The same would happen to the width for side doors.
Domino & Lucy – March 22, 2022
How would you describe the location of the side doors? Some pictures they look centered on the length. Others appear to favor toward the front side of the kennel
customercare – March 23, 2022
Domino,
The only kennel that doesn’t have the side door located in the center of the side wall is our XL. Our XL side door is located towards the back end of the kennel away from the front facing door.

J. Tong – March 21, 2022
When purchasing a double door kennel, and I choose the option of the wire door, will both doors be wire or just one?
customercare – March 22, 2022
Great question! Our kennels actually only come with composite doors; you would need to purchase wire doors separately from our website under the accessories tab.
Tawny – March 10, 2022
why do you only have random special colors in stock and rarely.. is there not a demand from ppl other than hunters/outdoor ppl.?? Just curious?
Leigh Wheeler – February 27, 2022
When considering the left or right door option is it determined when you are facing the kennel? My right or its right?
Ruff Land Kennels – February 28, 2022
Hey Leigh, when you are facing the front of the kennel, the left door will be on your left hand side and vise versa.
Courtney – February 21, 2022
Any idea when the pink will be available again in the large?
Jessica – May 9, 2022
I am also interested in the purple in a large.
customercare – May 11, 2022
Jessica,
We do not know when we will release purple again.
mr.sgodoy – March 8, 2022
Yup, my pup is waiting for girl colors.
Ruff Land Kennels – February 22, 2022
Hey Courtney, at the moment we aren’t sure what colors we’ll be releasing this year but once we know we’ll make a post on the website letting everyone know about the newly available colors, likely a month in advance.
Alexa – February 13, 2022
Do you make custom options that only have a door on the left (as in no front door)?
customercare – February 14, 2022
Alexa,
No, that is not one of our door configuration options.
tom – February 8, 2022
can you stack different sized Kennels ?
Admin customercare – February 9, 2022
Tom,
It depends on the sizes.
Sara Saunders – February 7, 2022
We just barely got our ruff land crate a few weeks ago and dog has broken out of it twice now. I have no idea how..there is no damage to the crate. Wondering if a metal door would fix the problem?
customercare – February 9, 2022
Sara,
For dogs who have separation anxiety or like to break out of kennels, we recommend a Metal Door Liner and a Side Latch Rod Kit to reinforce the door.
Angelica – February 4, 2022
My dog it’s high anxiety and has broken out of metal and plastic crates. I’m hoping one of yours would work for her but I don’t wanna waste my money if she ends up breaking it. How do these hold up with dogs such as mine
customercare – February 4, 2022
Angelica,
They have worked for dogs with anxiety before, but every dog is different. So, we can’t guarantee success. Its whatever you feel most comfortable with.
Ethan – February 2, 2022
Any idea when you will have orange available again in the large?
Admin customercare – February 3, 2022
Ethan,
We are hoping to have Orange again around August.
L. Dunn – February 1, 2022
Where are your kennels made? And if made in the USA, why doesn’t your website say so?
customercare – February 2, 2022
Yes, our kennels are made at our facility in South Dakota! It is on our website, but we will update it to make it more noticeable.
Steve – January 25, 2022
Will a large nest on top of an extra large?
Liz – March 6, 2022
Love my new intermediate crate! Will a medium stack on it?
Ruff Land Kennels – March 7, 2022
Hey Liz, unfortunately the medium will not stack on the regular intermediate. Glad to hear you love your new crate! If you have a moment please consider writing a review on our website or Facebook page!
will a medium nest on top of a large?
Our Medium cannot stack on top of a Large.
Ruff Land Kennels – January 25, 2022
Hey Steve, yes a large kennel will nest on top of an XL kennel.
S. Johnson – January 21, 2022
I was in need of a kennel that could fit on the floor of the back seat area of my truck. Because of temperature extremes in Georgia, especially heat, I wanted to have the kennel located inside the cab. I’m delighted to report that the large size kennel fits in the back seat area of a F-150 perfectly, with the seats folded up. I’m actually selling my F-250 SCREW simply to accommodate this kennel because it doesn’t have the door clearance or a flat rear floor area. Now just have to figure out how to secure it, but I’m sure I’ll find a way.
Ruff Land Kennels – January 21, 2022
Thanks for the kind words, we’re glad you like your kennel! If you want a way to secure it, we have accessories for tying down kennels, like our tie-down bracket kits and our tie-down d-ring kits.
Dean Pasko – January 20, 2022
Will 2 large kennels with front and back door fit side by side in a toyota rav4 cargo space?
Hey Dean, we don’t have a list of what kennels fit in specific vehicles but each of our kennel pages list the dimensions, so you can take those dimensions and measure the available space and use that to see if it fits. Hope that helps!
Kory Starkey – January 19, 2022
Do you plan to get more Orange Large Kennels in stock? I’m looking to purchase 2 and would prefer both orange!
Ruff Land Kennels – January 20, 2022
Hey Kory, we have changed Orange from a standard color to a limited edition color which we plan to have available in the fall months.
Shania – January 13, 2022
How often do you release colored crates?
Admin customercare – February 2, 2022
They are at random, as of right now we do not know what colors we will be having this year. If you would like to keep an eye on our Facebook page and/or website, that is where we will update when we release new colors!
David M. West – January 2, 2022
Which kennels come with a slant back and what are the dimensions of those kennels
